What is an Indian Face Massage?
Indian Face Massage is a very relaxing complementary therapy. It involves a massage of all the muscles in the face. It aims to aid healing of the whole person, not just specific symptoms. Massage has been used since ancient times to help boost the immune system & reduce stress, as well as improving circulation & lymphatic systems.
As with all complementary therapies, it should not replace conventional medicine if that is indicated.
The therapy has its origins in India, where it is frequently used to enhance a person’s health & wellbeing. The main techniques come from the ancient system of holistic healing known as Ayurveda.
Who can benefit from this treatment?
Indian Face Massage can benefit anyone, regardless of whether or not they have a specific problem. It can be performed in the workplace as it is a quick therapy.
After having one session, many people find it beneficial to have regular sessions in order to maintain health & wellbeing.

What happens during the treatment?
On the first visit, Helen will take a full history of your past & present lifestyle
It is, therefore, helpful if you bring a list of medication, prescribed or not, that you take. She will then determine whether or not the therapy would benefit you.
You will be asked to sit in a reclining chair, with your hair tied back.. You will be offered a choice of oil for Helen to use on your face. Helen will advice you on the choice of oils available & their benefits.
The massage takes approximately 30 minutes.
How will I feel after the treatment?
After one or two treatments, your body may respond in a very definite way. However, it is important to note that everyone is different. Most people feel a sense of deep relaxation & wellbeing. Some people report feeling lethargic, dehydrated, emotional or nauseous. These are all normal feelings & are only transitory. They should only last 24-48 hours & are all part of the healing process.
It is important to give your therapist this feedback as it indicates how your body is responding to the therapy.
Amongst the after care advice you will be given is:
- Drink plenty of water
- Eat a light meal
- Relax as much as possible for the remainder of the day
- Have an early night
